Fuck ya! Just got the internet turned on. Just got the fridge in today. Over the weekend, we finally got hot water and a toilet. Have you ever lived long without a toilet? Have you ever tried to show a 4-year-old how to shit in a bucket? It was an interesting experience, let me tell you…
But fuck… No more cooler filled with ice, where water droplets drip all over the floor when you try to pour a glass of milk. And then in runs the baby, and slips on the water before you can mop it up. No more washing your face with bottled, cold water in the morning. No more extension cords running everywhere, because only 2 plugs work in the whole househ ave been rewired. Shit, fuck, damn, I am excited.
We got one dresser in the house today. I hugged it. Literally. I have never been so happy to see an old piece of wood in my life! Four fucking months with no dressers, for any of us. Five people, with clothes everywhere. I’ve never realized the importance of a dresser. But now, I do. Now, I have appreciation for all the little things. Like running water. A toilet. Electricity. A kitchen table. Real chairs. Hopefully, tomorrow, I will remember what it is like to sit on my own couch. Maybe by the weekend, I’ll be sleeping in my own bed. But even if not, I don’t have to go out back behind the garage to take a piss. Or haul water. Or read by flashlight.
Yes, yes, I know. Not a very exciting post. But, just the fact that I am sitting here typing, makes me smile. Sitting here, in my own house (thank you what ever powers that be), after 4 long months, I am ecstatic to simply be.
*hugs and kisses* y’all. Mwah!!

Feeling your joy!
Thank you!
Missed you!!!!!! And happy home coming!!! Can I help arrange a sexy housewarming party? Send flowers? Anything? : )
*big hugs* Missed you too! You, my dear, are too sweet! xoxo
Yay! Woot.
Talk about roughing it though. I’d have been at a hotel for at least part of that time. Roughing it isn’t my thang so props to you for holding up. Congrats.
You hugged an old piece of wood. Is that anyway to talk about M’s, um…
LMAO
hehe… I may call it many things Scot, but old is not one of them!
Welcome back and welcome home. I’ve always liked camping, but you’ve really been roughing it. You made it!
Woo-hoo! And thanks! xoxo
Welcome back LSAM!
Thanks!
I’m happy for you all! Also that you’re back here!!
Me too! xoxo
Welcome back, sweet thing. <3
xoxo
Missed you love! Mwah!
Hurray for the forward movement, welcome back.
Thank you!!
Fabulous. You not only get your stuff, but you get the ability to appreciate your stuff. Nice to see you.
You too Theo!! xoxo
I’m so happy for you:-)
xoxoxo
Welcome to civilisation: we’ve missed you.
Thanks Rob. Missed you too!
Congratulations! Seriously, yes, it’s important to appreciate all those things. I do. It’s so easy to lose all of it and become homeless these days with jobs being so few and so precarious.
Yes… This is the first month at work where I haven’t had a homeless person on my caseload. I doubt it will last long…
But on a brighter note, thank you!
New to following you…but congrats! “Shit fuck damn”…we’re going to get along great
Thank you Deviant! And “shit fuck damn” comes out of my mouth quite often, and probably even more so in person! And I’m always glad to find someone of similar vocabulary! *hugs and kisses*
xoxx back at ya!
It’s amazing when one moves how one appreciates so many things that one took for granted in one’s old house.
One often does not realize the common things that one takes for granted, even though many go without those things. An experience like this makes one recognize what is truly important in one’s life, and what is not. *hugs and kisses*
BTDT. Called it “advanced camping”. Home without all the luxuries.
Glad you have improvements now! Oh,… and you forgot one. The luxury of NOT emptying that bucket.
Ha! Aboslutely!!
